Safety & Setup
Ride Torrent R1 the right way
A few minutes with this guide before your first ride goes a long way. Setup takes about 5 minutes, and a little preparation on the water makes every ride safer and more enjoyable.
Setup, step by step
Lay out and inflate the hull
Find a flat, clear area away from sharp objects. Unroll the hull fully before inflating so it takes shape evenly.
Install the control assembly
Lock the fixed control unit into place. Check that it is fully seated and secure before moving on.
Install the battery and inspect
Connect the battery, then do a quick visual check of the hull and controls before launching.
Before every ride
Wear a properly fitted life vest at all times on the water
Wear a helmet, especially at higher speeds or in choppy water
Check the battery charge and hull inflation before launching
Check weather and water conditions, and avoid riding alone in open water
Confirm your local watercraft rules, age limits, and license requirements
Stay clear of swimmers, other watercraft, and shallow or rocky areas
While you ride
- Start at a lower speed until you are familiar with how Torrent R1 handles.
- Keep both hands on the controls and stay seated while underway.
- Never operate under the influence of alcohol or any impairing substance.
- Keep young or inexperienced riders supervised by an adult at all times.
- Head back to shore at the first sign of low battery, rather than waiting until it runs out.
After your ride
- Rinse the hull with fresh water if you rode in saltwater or brackish conditions.
- Let the hull dry fully before deflating and storing it.
- Charge the battery fully before your next outing, and store it in a cool, dry place.
- Do a quick inspection for any wear, punctures, or loose fittings before your next ride.
